Your Questions, Answered

  • At Adventures with Tilley, I offer calm, supportive services designed to help dogs build confidence, develop social skills, and enjoy positive experiences in the world. This includes neutral walks for dogs who need space and gentle exposure, social‑skills sessions to practise calm interactions, and social walks in small, well‑matched groups. I also provide adventure walks for dogs who benefit from enriching, low‑pressure exploration, along with community events and workshops that bring people together to learn, connect, and support their dogs in a friendly, inclusive environment.

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

  • At Adventures with Tilley, I take a gentle, relationship‑first approach that focuses on emotional safety, confidence and understanding, rather than quick fixes or pressure‑based training. All of our training and support takes place outside in the real world, where dogs can learn at their own pace in the environments they actually live in. Every walk, session and workshop is tailored to the individual dog — especially those who need more time, space or support. I specialise in working with sensitive, reactive and neurodivergent dogs, offering calm, structured opportunities to practise social skills in a way that feels manageable, not overwhelming. My services blend real‑life experience, behaviour awareness and a deep respect for each dog’s pace, creating an environment where both dogs and humans feel seen, supported and never judged.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

  • My pricing model is straightforward and flexible so you can choose what suits you and your dog best. I offer both pay‑as‑you‑go sessionsand block bookings at a reduced rate for families who want ongoing support. Prices vary depending on the type of walk or session — such as neutral walks, social walks, social‑skills sessions, adventure walks, or workshops — and how much individual support your dog needs. There are no long‑term contracts or pressure to commit; you’re free to book what you need, when you need it. Everything is designed to be honest, accessible and centred around what works best for you and your dog.

  • Working with me feels calm, supportive and genuinely collaborative. I create a space where both you and your dog can breathe, learn and grow without pressure or judgement. Everything we do happens outside in the real world, at your dog’s pace, with plenty of time to observe, pause and adjust. It’s all about partnership and having fun together, not obedience or rigid rules — because real progress comes from connection, not control. I focus on understanding your dog as an individual — their needs, emotions and quirks — while also supporting you so you feel confident, informed and never alone in the process. My approach is steady and compassionate, blending structure with kindness, so you always feel heard, respected and part of a team that’s rooting for your dog’s success.

  • A 1:1 social walk assessment is a gentle, real‑world session designed to see how your dog manages different environments, sights, and social situations. We walk together at your dog’s pace, observing their body language, comfort levels, and how they respond to the world around them. This helps me understand what kind of support they need and which of my walking groups — neutral walks, social walks, or adventure walks — would be the best and safest fit. It’s a relaxed, pressure‑free assessment that focuses on setting your dog up for success.

  • Absolutely — and you’re not alone. Many caring owners feel embarrassed when their dog barks, growls, pulls, hides, or reacts in ways that feel “too much” in public. It’s such a normal, human response. And honestly? I can relate to this. I’ve been there, and I still have those days. Having a sensitive or reactive dog isn’t a straight line — it’s full of unpredictable moments that can leave you feeling exposed or judged.

But here’s the truth: your dog’s behaviour doesn’t define you, and it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Your dog is simply expressing how they feel in that moment.

When we work together, you never have to apologise or hide. All of my sessions take place calmly outside, in real‑life environments, where I’m right there alongside you through whatever comes up. And part of the reason I created this community is because I don’t want any of us to feel alone in this anymore. I wanted a space where we don’t have to hide away, where we can raise awareness, support each other, and help others understand what life with sensitive dogs is really like.

My approach is all about partnership, not perfection. Your dog is learning, you’re learning, and together we’ll build confidence, connection, and moments of joy that make everything feel a little lighter.

  • Do the dogs interact on the walk?

No. Neutral Walks follow a strict zero‑contact rule. Dogs do not greet or socialise. This keeps things calm, predictable, and safe for everyone.

Does my dog need to be muzzled?

All reactive dogs must be safely muzzled.
This helps everyone feel relaxed and confident — including you.

If your dog is new to muzzles, I can signpost gentle muzzle‑training resources.

Is this suitable for very reactive dogs?

Yes. Neutral Walks are designed for reactive, sensitive, or easily overwhelmed dogs.
Your dog can move at their own pace with no pressure to “perform” or interact.

What about dogs who aren’t reactive?

They’re welcome too — as long as they can respect space.
These walks are ideal for dogs who simply need to learn to settle calmly around others.

    How big are the groups?

All walks are small group sessions to ensure space, safety, and a calm environment.

Where do the walks take place?

Walks run in various locations throughout the month, chosen for safety, space, and low‑pressure environments.
You’ll receive the exact meeting point after booking.

Can I come without my dog?

Absolutely. Neutral Walks support humans too.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just want to be with like‑minded people, you’re welcome to join without your dog.

    What should I bring?

    • standard lead (no retractables)

    • treats your dog loves

    • water

    • muzzle (for reactive dogs)

    • suitable walking shoes for yourself

What if I’m nervous about attending?

You’re not alone — most people feel this way at first.
These sessions are kind, gentle, and completely judgement‑free.
You and your dog can take your time and move at a pace that feels comfortable. You can always come without your dog on your first walk.
